What an incredibly busy week at Book.io HQ! Special thanks to everyone who came to Book.io Con ’24 and everyone who attended virtually. It truly was an unforgettable experience. We undoubtedly have the best community in crypto.
Book.io Updates
- Record Breaker: At Book.io Con, we minted a secret book on the back of the attendee badge: The Philosophy of Beards by Thomas S. Gowing. The book, quite progressive for its time, criticizes the then-popular trend of shaving and posits that the natural state of a man’s facial hair is both beneficial and aesthetically appropriate. In just 48 hours, we sold over 9 billion, making it the best-selling book in history. Want one? It’s available to purchase now on Minswap.
- Lots of questions have been pouring in about $BEARD. What is this new asset even called? Josh and Ben will jump onto an X Space tomorrow to discuss the Beard book and discuss the endless possibilities. The time for the space will be set tomorrow morning since they just got back from traveling.
Last Week’s Mints:
- Monday, we added A General View of Positivism by Auguste Comte to the Book.io shelves. Comte’s text, which lays the foundation for the philosophy of positivism and advocates for scientific approaches to societal issues, is now available for true digital ownership at jpg.store.
- Tuesday, we minted What is Property? by Pierre-Joseph Proudhon. This cornerstone in the discussion of economic and property theories is still minting, with rarities 001, 002, and 005 available. - Minting This Week: We’re still finalizing the schedule for the remainder of the week, but we can confirm that these mints are set for Thursday. Keep an eye on our socials for all the details.
- Thursday, we are minting the reader editions of three classic religious texts -
- The Egyptian Book of the Dead — a fascinating collection of texts that were used in ancient Egypt from around 1550 BC to 50 BC to guide the deceased through the trials of the underworld into the afterlife. It is not a single book but a compilation of spells, prayers, and incantations that were written on scrolls and included in the tombs and sarcophagi of the deceased. Available this Thursday in a single DEA.
- Bhagavad-Gītā — This sacred Hindu scripture, part of the epic Mahabharata, consists of a philosophical dialogue between the prince Arjuna and the God Krishna. Offering profound insights into duty and righteousness, the text guides through spiritual discipline and the pursuit of ethical conduct and self-realization. Its minting ensures that these timeless teachings are secured for continual global access and study.
- The Book of Mormon — This sacred text of the Latter-day Saint movement recounts the spiritual, political, and military history of ancient American peoples. Compiled by the prophet-historian Mormon and his son Moroni, it includes Jesus Christ’s teachings to the inhabitants of the Americas, emphasizing themes of redemption, faith, and the gathering of Israel.
